Facebook and Learning?

Liz Kolb - University of Michigan, Madonna University
Over half of American teenagers ages 13-18 are on social networking sites. Many schools consider Facebook to be distracting and potentially harmful for their students. Yet, students are engaging in this collaborative environment everyday outside of school. This session will explore the concerns of social networking, as well as potential solutions to these common problems. In addition, you will see how K-12 teachers are using Facebook in learning successfully. To finish, we will discuss how to teach students to use these sites by developing safe and positive digital footprints.
